The Tidewater Chapter of US Lacrosse is supporting the men's and women's lacrosse officials organizations in the Hampton Roads area in their search for new men's and women's game officials. Active or former players, coaches, and lacrosse enthusiasts who want to be more involved in the game are needed. If you love the game, and have a basic knowledge of the rules, we ask you to consider becoming an official for youth or high school games. Games are played across the Hampton Roads region from Williamsburg to the Outer Banks, from Virginia Beach to Suffolk, and all points in between.
Specific points of contact for the men's and women's organizations, and details on upcoming training opportunities, are listed below:
The Hampton Roads Lacrosse Officials Association (HRLOA) will conduct a US Lacrosse Men's Division Officials Council (MDOC) sanctioned referee training for youth and adults in early September 2013. The training will be provided by Mr. Lou Rader, MDOC Trainer, Tidewater Chapter, US Lacrosse.
You must be at least a high school freshman (no maximum age). Player experience (for 14-22-year-olds) is highly recommended (familiarity with play of the game).
Date: Sept. 7-8 (Saturday & Sunday)
Time: Saturday: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (note, there is a take home test to complete Saturday evening)
Sunday: Noon to 4 p.m.
Place: TBD (Location planned for Southside venue with directions provided upon facility selection)
Cost: $50, due no later than Aug. 9, 2013 (Failure to prepay will result in course withdrawal)

Uniforms are the responsibility of each official, but are not required until on field training and games. Initial uniform costs are approximately $85 plus a pair of all black/primarily black field or running shoes.
