Hamilton High School

Girls' Head Coach (Varsity). Available: Immediately.

First-year program starting this spring, February-May 2015. League status: CIF varsity (will become the 6th LAUSD City Section girls' team). Teaching too? No, this is coach-only position.

Practice times: In-season practices are before school, starting around 6:30 am (should not conflict with your "real" job).

Requirement: This is a great opportunity for a coach to make an indelible imprint on the lives of 20+ inner city girls, most of whom are playing lacrosse for the first time. This is the school’s very first team. The coach must be energetic, mature, and knowledgeable. In essence, the coach must possess the ability to teach the rules, skills, and strategies of lacrosse to a team comprised mostly of new players. The students are arriving 2 hours before school starts to practice because of the school's field limitations. Hamilton High School is looking for coaches who will match (exceed) the dedication of these players.

The team: The team is anchored by a senior who has been playing at a high level (club) for several years. In addition, there are a few others (mostly 9th graders) who previously played in middle school. The team has many good athletes, as indicated at the clinics that have been ongoing for the past 6 months. The girls are motivated. This is sure to be an incredible experience for coaches, players, parents, and school administrators. You will have an opportunity to mold the culture of our sport at that high school. Are you up for the challenge?

Salary: Standard LAUSD rates for coaches.
